Students and teachers had an amazing time on Monday when we held JBE's first Paperless Day of the 2012-2013 school year. Kindergarten students rotated classes to visit each of the 6 teachers and learn something new with each- about sculpting with clay, different kinds of seeds, 3-D shapes, and more. Second grade completed Math problems on dry erase boards as well as CPS and hands-on activities. Mrs. Atkinson's students acted in their first Readers' Theater! Mrs. Nile had students actively engaged on computers and reading books. Students visiting the Media Center took AR tests on laptops! Fourth graders made presentations on academic topics, as well as utilized technology and played board games. Ms. Adair's students painted gourds. Third grade made presentations about famous people. (Unpictured: First graders completed hands-on activities, used dry erase boards, and read books. Fifth grade Math students created their own song or rap about Math facts, inspired by Flocabulary.com! Fifth grade Reading students re-enacted Rosa Park's famous bus event. I was there to participate with one of the classes. The discussion was powerful and moving! Lower grades PE students practiced sounding out and spelling movement words.)
I am sure I unintentionally missed activities, and I know not everyone submitted pictures, but I think great fun was had by all!! Please ask your student what activities they completed and how they felt about it.
We look forward to future JBE Paperless Days!
